Trees and Woodland
Redwood Cathedral
I was taking a foggy early morning walk through the Lady Bird Johnson Grove Trail through the old growth redwood forest in Redwood National Park, on the hunt for compositions with blooming rhododendrons when I spotted this interesting redwood trunk. Despite the fires these majestic trees sometimes endure, they still manage to thrive, absorbing moisture and nutrients from the dense fog layer that is common on California's northernmost coast. When I looked at the image back at home, the forest reminded me of a serene redwood cathedral, and the trunk, an entry portal into this otherworldly scene.
