Rainbow Forest, Great Smoky Mountains
Home to over 100 species of trees and 5 types of forest, the richness and diversity of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was so inspiring to me as a first time visitor here! Although I experienced many bright, dry, sunny days during my short visit, and not the overcast conditions I had secretly hoped for, the density of the woodlands still provided many opportunities to explore the forest and capture intricate layers of foliage and bands of light. Using auto white balance, the bright yellow of the leaves tricked the camera into rendering the dark shadows in the background in a rich, vibrant blue that I quite liked for an autumnal Skittles candy effect.
